据外国媒体报道，2012年英国NME音乐奖（NME Music Magazine Awards）颁奖礼刚于英国当地时间2月29日晚在伦敦O2 Academy Brixton场馆落下帷幕，英国人气独立乐队Florence + the Machine主唱弗洛伦斯·韦尔奇 (Florence Welch)获得两项大奖领成为当晚最大赢家，紧随其后的是分别获得一项大奖的英国摇滚乐队北极猴子(Arctic Monkeys)以及战栗乐队(The Horrors)。
当晚颁奖礼上，弗洛伦斯·韦尔奇击败了英国人气歌手阿黛尔（Adele）以及英国民谣创作歌手Laura Marling拿下了最佳歌手大奖。此外，在最佳单曲角逐上，Florence + the Machine最终凭借热门单曲《Shake It Out》击败The Horrors以及北极猴子乐队等多位大牌获得该大奖。
在领取最佳单曲奖项时，弗洛伦斯·韦尔奇感概表示从未想过能获得这项大奖并在台上感谢她的队友、经纪人的支持。此外，弗洛伦斯·韦尔奇联合The Horrors乐队在当晚的舞台上演绎了他们各自的人气作品《Shake It Out》和《Still Life》。
至于其他奖项归属方面，Horrors乐队凭借人气专辑《Skying》拿下了当晚的最佳专辑大奖，而英国摇滚乐队卡萨比安(Kasabian)获得最佳英国乐队；英国独立摇滚乐队The Vaccines则拿下最佳新晋乐队大奖。最佳音乐录影带大奖由摇滚乐队Hurts的《Sunday》获得，北极猴子乐队当晚摘得了最佳现场演出乐队奖项。而年度最差劲组合和年度最差专辑分别由英国男孩团体One Direction和加拿大人气偶像贾斯汀·比伯（Justin Bieber）的《Under The Mistletoe》获得。
