Plane Landing in Zürich and Paris

Le projet d'Aleksandra Mir, "Plane Landing", repose sur la création d'un ballon gonflé à l'hélium, reprenant les formes et dimensions d'un avion de ligne. Suspendu au-dessus du sol en constante position d'atterrissage, l'avion a d'abord été présenté en juillet 2004 dans un cadre typiquement anglais, avant d'entamer un tour du monde vers d'autres paysages de cartes postales. En juillet 2008, l'avion a atterri à l'aéroport de Zürich puis en octobre à Paris, où il a été photographié dans les sites emblématiques de la capitale. Plane Landing est un évènement dont chaque étape fait partie intégrante de l'oeuvre : la fabrication du ballon, ses voyages, son gonflage à l'hélium, son « atterrissage » et les photographies qui témoignent de tous ces épisodes.
Pour cette nouvelle exposition seront présentées deux ensembles de photographies réalisées lors des inflations de l'avion en 2008, à l'aéroport de Zürich dans le cadre de l'exposition "Shifting Identities", Kunsthaus Zurich, et à Paris lors de la FIAC.
Née en 1967 à Lubin (Pologne), de nationalité suédoise et américaine, Aleksandra Mir vit et travaille à Palerme (Sicile). Prochainement exposée à la Schirn Kunstalle Frankfurt(mai 2009) et à la 53e Biennale de Venise, elle a récemment présenté son travail à la Mary Boone Gallery, NY( White House, 2008), à la Biennale de Venise, Sicilian Pavillon, (2007), à la Kunsthaus Zürich, Shifting Identities (2008), Switzerland and Others Islands (2006)....
Aleksandra Mir's vision centers on the creation of a purpose-designed helium balloon in the shape and size of a passenger jet plane. Suspended above the ground in a permanent state of landing, the plane had its premiere in the UK in 2004 against a quintessentially English backdrop, before embarking on a global tour to other 'picture postcard' destinations. In July 2008, the plane "landed" at the Zurich airport, and in October, it arrived to Paris where it was photographed against various historic landmarks. Plane Landing is an event: the production of the balloon, its travel to new destinations, the inflation, its 'landing' and the documentation of all these parts constitute the artwork.
This new exhibition will present two sets of photographs shot in 2008 during the plane inflations at Zurich airport, as part of the exhibition "Shifting Identities", Kunsthaus Zurich, and in Paris during FIAC.

Better Homes and Gardens with Modern Art and Cows

Pour sa première exposition à la galerie, Piotr Dluzniewski présente deux séries inédites d'aquarelles où la figure féminime est omniprésente : l'une réalisée dans les Alpes suisses et l'autre présentant un ensemble de scènes d'intérieurs.
L'oeuvre de Piotr Dluzniewski aborde différentes formes de sexualité. Les mystérieux personnages féminins qui habitent ses oeuvres chargées d'érotisme promettent à la fois punition et salut. Dans ce contexte, ses images de montagne d'apparence idyllique semblent se charger de références à des farces sadomasochistes, et confèrent à l'ensemble différents niveaux de lecture. Les oeuvres de Piotr Dluzniewski témoignent à la fois des obsessions de l'artiste et de la distance ironique qu'il entretient avec elles.
Né en 1952 à Lodz (Pologne), Piotr Dluzniewski vit et travaille à Cologne en Allemagne. Il a récemment exposé à la galerie 1m3 "The neverending story of beautiful shoes, surprising turns of fate and the cows of Berner Oberland", (2008), "Josef Hannibal Now !", Blancpain Art Contemporain, Genève (2008), "Und immer fehlt mir was", Ausstellungsraum Färbergasse, Wien(2007), "Comme ci Comme ca II" (Karin Barth), Köln (2005)...
For his first exhibition at the gallery, Piotr Dluzniewski presents two unseen series of watercolours where the female figure is omnipresent: he uses the setting of the Swiss Alps for one and in the other he depicts various interior scenes.
The work of Piotr Dluzniewski relates to various forms of sexuality. The mysterious female figures animate the space which they occupy, in an erotically fantastical way, simultaneously promising punishment as well as salvation. When considering the context of his other paintings, which allude to a playful sense of sadomasochism, the seemingly idyllic mountain impressions take on new layers of meaning. The work of Piotr Dluzniewski shows evidence of his intense fascination with this subject matter and also manages to retain an ironic sense of distance from this.
