《James Dean》：为一代影星树碑立传
James Dean是美国演员，他的主流形象代表他所处时代青年的叛逆形象，也是“垮掉的一代”在银幕上的代言人之一。
终其一生，James Dean只演过三部电影，分别是《伊甸园之东》、《无因的反抗》和《巨人》。而在《伊甸园之东》所饰演角色的颓废和沉沦形象，很快让他成为“垮掉的一代”青年心目中的偶像。1955年9月30日，James Dean在加州因为车祸遇难，也为美国电影史，留下了又一个具有悲剧色彩的传奇。
由于James Dean不属于西部范畴的概念，因此有他为名创作的歌曲，最终并没有收录在《Desperado》专辑里，而是留到了《On the Border》专辑里。对于同样身处于“垮掉的一代”时代的“老鹰”乐队来讲，为James Dean树碑立传，其实也是纪录他们的青春。而1994年在不插电演唱会上，于《Hotel Califonia》的音乐声中，一起优雅的演奏和优雅的鼓掌，也正是一代人经过岁月洗礼之后的共鸣。台上演的和台下听到的，绝不仅仅只是中国歌迷所听到的那些。
